Alexander Sokol
Responsibilities
Alexander Sokol is founder and CEO of CompatibL. He is responsible for the company's overall direction and technology strategy.
Experience
Prior to starting CompatibL, Alexander founded NumeriX where he served as Chief Technology Officer from from 1996 to 2003. During that time he was responsible for the entire software development effort at NumeriX, including recruiting and managing the development team of 47 developers.
While at NumeriX, he created the product concept and led the implementation of the NumeriX Toolkit and Engine product lines. He also worked on a variety of customer projects in the areas of interest rate, credit, equity, foreign exchange, and other asset classes. Alexander has hands-on experience with the entire spectrum of financial software development, from the underlying IT infrastructure to GUI design and analytics.
Academic
Prior to founding NumeriX, Alexander has been on the faculty of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and L.D. Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics (Moscow). He holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physic from L.D. Landau Institute and M.Sc. in Physics (with distinction) from PhysTech, Moscow.
Alexander is the author of over 45 academic publications and one patent in the areas of physics, high performance computing, and financial mathematics. He received a number of prestigious research awards including:
- Awards USSR Academy of Sciences Award and Medal for Best Student Research of the Year, 1988
- Arnold O. Beckman Research Award, 1994
- Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellow, 1995.
